I wanted to make this little model of my favorite sniper rifle. The Walther WA 2000. A pretty rare German rifle of which only a few units exist
I just think it looks neat!
I used this as an exercise for texturing wood manually, since procedurally-generated wood textures are really not good. I used several image textures that I ran through 3D Sampler to create stencils that I could use to create more natural looking wood.
While I was working on it I remembered this one video I watched once of a guy that made a physically functional camera inside Blender. So I wondered if maybe I could do the same with a sniper scope. And I spent the next two hours researching into how rifle scopes work to try and make it work. I kinda did in the end, so I'm happy with the result
